Dear members and interested readers,
Dear friends and supporters,
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
We are very excited to provide you with an overview of our successful projects in Gyumri. We are also proud and grateful to share with you some impressions from two charity concerts which took place in Vienna on the 7th and the 25th of May, 2017. We were very glad to see many of you at these concerts.
In October of last year, we started a new training project with two young women in Gyumri on a trial basis. These two women are Hermine and Tanganush. The former wanted to be trained as a hairdresser and Tanganusch as a make-up artist. Both professions are successful and demanded in Armenia. They also allow performing independently as a self-employer. Thus, we decided to support these two women to be trained in their wished professions.
Here you can see their history and pictures of the training venue.
Our two training projects, namely shoemaker training and carpet weaving successfully go on. Levon and Olga, the trainers of the mentioned projects work with us on the basis of monthly contacts.
In August, our president Anika Akopian travels to Gjumri in order to visit the projects and explore possibilities of launching new training courses. Of course, we will also continue supporting medical treatment of young patients in the mother-child-center of the Austrian Children’s Hospital. At our charity concerns, we asked for donations especially for this project. We would like to thank all the artists who renounced their fees in favor of Smile to Armenia. To express our gratitude, our donators were invited to join a tour through the Austrian Parliament guided by Dr Christoph Konrath, head of the department “Political Science” at the general administration of the Austrian Parliament. This tour was a special experience due to historical and cultural-scientific context.
Impressions of both concerts can be found under ‘‘Charity Concert’’ on 7.05.2017 in the Lutheran City Church and ‘’Charity Concert’’ on 25.05.2017 in the St. Rupert's Church. We thank all of you for your support and donations! A total of € 1,998 has been collected.
We would like to thank Aram Sargsyan, who introduced our institution to the German company ELWEMA Automotive GmbH and his colleagues. The employees of the company donated € 500.00 for the training activities at Christmas collection.
We are pleased that our projects can be continued with your support and that we can bring a smile to many faces.
We wish all of you a relaxing and beautiful summer…
Best regards,
Team Smile to Armenia
Dear members and
dear donors
of Smile to Armenia!
From October 18th to 20th, 2016, we have implemented Project No III, Cancer Detection for women, in the area of Vanadzor. In cooperation with the Medical Center of Vanadzor and the Viennese laboratory Kaserer, Salzer & Beer OG, PAP- tests were used to screen women for cervical cancer. On the first day already it snowed heavily and the whole city was covered by snow.
Despite the weather and a resulting difficult transport situation, a total of 266 women took part and were examined during these three days. 25% of them had come from remote areas. Unfortunatelly, a 33-year-old woman was diagnosed with cancer and 6 other women with pre-stage cancer. These women received consultation from a gynecologist. Possible treatment options have been discussed with them.
Thanks to the wonderful hospital team's professional approach to the organizational issues, this project was carried out successfully.
Many thanks to our donors who have made this possible.
